With its potential of 40.000.000 tourists per year, Turkey has become the 6th most visited tourist destination in the world. Turkey is moving towards to the top of the list by increasing the tourist potential each passing day. Meeting nearly all expectations, Turkey is a step ahead at medical tourism in recent years.
Medical tourism as the rising star in health sector involves processes which brings together medical treatment and tourism under the same roof. In the recent past, there were only few people who got medical treatment abroad through assistance companies. Nowadays, medical tourism became very popular with the various price offers for treatment, accomodation and concierge services provided by companies. Established hospitals, educated doctors and medical personnels, fine climate conditions, secure and safe environment and easy transportation are the most effective factors to determine the medical tourism potential of countries.
After Germany, Israel and India, Turkey has become the first option that comes to mind, for patients who look for both medical treatment and vacation at the same time, with the effective marketing of its potentials and having 51 hospitals that have international accreditions.

Oman is a country not known to many westerners. Perhaps, the dominance of UAE plays a big role in this. The vast majority of tv spots, adverts and news in the West, evolve around the wealth and glamour of the life in U.A.E. Located on the bottom end of the Arabian Peninsula, Oman is a humble kingdom with an extremely rich cultural heritage, terrific touristic zones and hospitable people.
The tourism numbers of Oman are rapidly growing. For a country with a population of just over 3 million people, 2 million visitors per year mean a lot.
European visitor numbers had started increasing with a ratio of 15% in 2013 compared to previous years and still keep increasing. Most of the westerners gather around Muscat and the surrounding towns. This is where the majority of touristic activities take place. Gorgeous beaches are surrounded by characteristic desert mountains with many hotels spreading across the coastal line towards the southern end of the city. Water sports are very popular among tourists. Through the north of the city, past the airport is Sohar, the mythical birthplace of Sinbad the Sailor. Sohar has recently been experiencing significant investments due to a series of large projects that evolve around Port of Sohar, one of the crucial ports in the area. With current investments exceeding $15 billion, it is one of the world's largest port and free zone developments. (The Report: Oman 2010, Oxford Business Group)
Salalah is yet another major investment center in Oman. Oman’s second most populated city is home to Port of Salalah where a significant volume of trade from the Indian Ocean takes place. What makes Salalah world famous however is not its trade volume, but its climate. Salalah is a part of the Monsoon area and receives Monsoon rains in the summer. This period which lasts from July to September is called al Khareef and it is during al Khareef that the tourism numbers soar. During this time of the year, the yellowish desert tone of the land turns into a marvellous green and tropical landscape dazzle the visitors.
The healthcare infrastructure of Oman is excellent. The public and private hospitals are equipped with modern machinery, sanitation in general is very good and communication is above average considering middle eastern standards. Many of top Omani hospitals are located in Muscat .
marmassistance concluded its last network visit to Oman in 2015 January. The team visited all of Oman’s touristic cities. The capital Muscat, Sohar and Salalah were all covered. Within the last year, a total of 15 hospitals were signed with GOP agreements in Oman. Ambulance arrangements were made, local agents were arranged for hotel visits and all relevant transportation services were set up. Within the past months, 24 out of 26 Omani cases marmassistance has received turned out successful, with the remaining 2 being public hospital cases. Public hospital cases still have a lower probability of being completed due to the communication challenge of some of the hospitals.
As part of Oman’s ambitious tourism program, in 2020, Oman is looking into boosting its tourism figures so that tourism contributes 9.2 per cent to its economy, up from 6.7 per cent in 2010. This would make tourism a main source of income for the country apart from oil. Considering the natutral beauty of the country and the positive reputation its rapidly building, these figures are likely to be achieved. In the following years, we are expecting steady growth in Omani inbound tourism. 9.2 per cent to the economy, up from 6.7 per cent in 2010.
